Welcome to Bilbao, the heart of the Basque Country, Northern Spain’s most famous region. A vibrant city where traditions and cutting-edge architecture live in perfect harmony.

Bilbao offers a wide range of top events in 2018, including sports, music and gastronomy : the World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards ceremony will be held in Bilbao on Tuesday 19th June.

The Basque region of Spain is home to four of the restaurants on this year’s 50 Best list, with Victor Arguinzoniz’s Asador Etxebarri in Axpe at No.6, Mugaritz and Arzak in San Sebastian at No.9 and No.30, respectively, and Azurmendi in Larrabetzu, near Bilbao, at No.38. Nerua, located inside Bilbao’s iconic Guggenheim Museum, sits just outside the main list at No.56, and there are a further five Spanish restaurants within the top 100, the highest being El Celler de Can Roca in Girona at No.3.

Immerse yourself into the vibrant atmosphere of this charming city with a private tour of it’s most famous landmarks. After that, will enjoy a walking tour of the historic centre as you sample the traditional “pintxos” in a “pintxos bar crawl”. “Pintxos” are the Basque version of the Spanish Tapas.

You will enjoy a bar crawl to the most unique local bars to sample these delicacies. After lunch, you will be transferred to your hotel, an impressive design hotel just in front of Bilbao’s landmark: the Guggenheim Museum.

After checking in and with some time to relax in your room, you will be guided to the Guggenheim Museum for a visit to this spectacular exhibition centre.

For dinner you will enjoy a traditional a-la-carte Basque restaurant where you can sample one of the Basque specialities: the Txuletón or “grilled steak”. You will sample another local food like croquettes or cod Basque style.
