Upon arrival to Bilbao's airport you will be welcomed by your guide and escorted to a private vehicle. Then you will enjoy a scenic drive along Northern Spain's beautiful coastline.

After a short drive, you will arrive to Ribadesella, your home for the next five days. You will check in a unique hotel in the Spanish coast, a seafront palace with views to the Cantabrian sea, with direct access to Santa Marina beach and surrounded by the breath-taking sea and mountain landscapes.

For dinner, you will enjoy a feast for your senses at the hotel's gastronomic restaurant where tradition meets innovation at every bite with the freshest seafood in the region.


Day 2 Sunday August 23rd

After a reinvigorating sleep, a delicious breakfast will be waiting for you to recharge your batteries. You will probably may be in a mood to enjoy an early morning stroll on the beach before surfers arrive to this stunning town.

You will enjoy a full relaxing morning by the beach before heading to You willi be driven  into the mountains in search of ‘Pitu de Caleya’, free-range chicken. But this isn’t just any free-range chicken; it is the most delicious in Northern Spain. Far from prying eyes is a restaurant that few outsiders know about. Here you will sample its mouth-watering signature dish, free-range chicken rice as well as some local specialities.

You will be driven back to Ribadesella to enjoy the rest of the afternoon at your own leisure by the beach.

For dinner, you will be escorted to one of the best restaurants in town, a place specialised in making probably the most delicious "Paella" (Spain's iconic dish) in the region.


Day 3 Monday August 24th

After a delicious breakfast and an early morning dive into the sea, you will be driven to one of the most picturesque coastal villages in Spain, Lastres.

Perched by the cliffs you will discover Lastres’ postcard-perfect lighthouse. Waiting quayside at Lastres’ fishing port, you will meet the fishermen as they arrive with their catch of the day.

You will learn how fishermen live in this region bringing the best fish and seafood to the local restaurants. You will have the opportunity to sample this sparkling-fresh produce in a local restaurant in this picturesque village.

After lunch, you will have the rest of the afternoon at your own leisure at your hotel by the beach.

Cider is the traditional drink of Asturias in Northern Spain, and it is an important part of the social life. For dinner, you will be escorted to a local cider bar and you will learn how to pour it like the locals do from a great height to allow the cider to breathe.

You will enjoy local tapas and plenty of cider during an unforgettable meal which will be the cherry on the cake for a full day of gastronomic experiences.


Day 4 Tuesday August 25th

After breakfast by the beach you will start the day with a drive through a scenic road from the beach up to the mountains to "Covadonga Lakes", one of the most beautiful spots in "Picos de Europa". The road ascending to the lakes is a popular climb in professional road bicycle racing, and the most important climb in the Spanish multi-stage bicycle race "La Vuelta".

You will enjoy jaw-dropping views along the way. The "Covadonga Lakes" is a postcard-perfect valley with two glacial lakes. Goats, sheep, and cows roam freely around the lakes.

The view from this point is probably one of the most outstanding views of a mountain range in the world, dusted with snow on their peaks.

For lunch, with such a beautiful backdrop, you will enjoy a gourmet picnic with ham, cheese, homemade bread, local home-made specialities and wine surrounded by magnificent mountains. An unforgettable experience for a nature lover.

After lunch, you will be driven back to the hotel to relax for the rest of the afternoon by the beach. 

For dinner, you will enjoy a feast for your senses at a restaurant awarded with a Michelin star hidden in the back alleys of this charming town.  You will embark on a gastronomic journey to Northern Spain as you sample world-class dishes from their menu that combine local produce with tradition and innovation.


Day 5Wednesday August 26th

The day starts off by heading out to Cabrales. The Cabrales area famous for their cheese making, especially blue cheese making. Optionally, a cheese factory tour can be arranged. You will be taken up the mountain by cable car to the village of Bulnes.

Not long ago, the only way to reach Bulnes was through a snake-like path surrounded by rocks belonging to the third stage of prehistory. This path was walked by men on mules carrying provisions and belongings and also by postal workers. This route was not very much used during winter because it was hidden by the snow.  But you will ascend to Bulnes using a cable car under the mountains.

This small mountain village nestles in a deep valley. Bulnes has a small selection of cafes and bars; short walks from Bulnes lead to the village of Upper Bulnes, and a viewpoint of Picu Uriellu.

You will enjoy a traditional lunch in one of the family-run restaurants in the village. After lunch, you will descend by cable car to Arenas de Cabrales and you will experience the Spanish "siesta" while you are driven back to the beach.

Enjoy the rest of the evening at your own leisure by the beach. Dinner at the hotel's à-la-carte restaurant.


Day 6 Thursday August 27th

After breakfast, you will meet your guide and your driver and you will say goodbye to Ribadesella and your day will start off with a short trip to Santillana de Mar. It is a medieval village famous for its breathtaking towers that majestically stand above the beautiful landscape. As you tour through the city, you will be shown some of the more important and unique parts of the city before heading back out on the road to the next stop.

The next stop is the Art Nouveau city of Comillas. Comillas stands out among the coastal Northern cities because of its architecture, which borders the line between historic and modern. It is a must stop for anyone who loves the history behind Spanish buildings as well as stunning cathedrals and universities. It is in Comillas that you will be treated to a seafood feast on the coast.

After a short drive you will arrive to your hotel for the next four nights,  Castilla Termal Solares Hotel &Spa, situated in a vast park of centenarian trees, is a historical and emblematic building that was declared the first thermal station of Northern Spain at the beginning of the 20th century.

Preserving its classical architectural style, the building hosts the spa hotel complex of 4 stars status. Moreover, the Solares hotel spa provides a wide range catering services, a lobby bar, a summer terrace and the magnificent “El Manantial” restaurant.

The spa features a pool of more than 85,000 liters of thermal water flowing directly from the Fuencaliente spring, totally equipped with the latest innovations on thermal technologies (swan neck jets, beds, bubble baths, a lane for swimming against the current, etc…). Today, the full family will enjoy an unforgettable experience surrounded by nature. A full-day visit to Cabarceno Natural Park where the kids will see animals from all over the world in their natural habitat: lions, elephants, giraffes, rhinos, snakes, bears...

The Cabarceno natural park is not a zoo conventional or a natural park . It is a naturalized space by the hand of man, from the primitive beauty of the karst landscape on the 750 hectares of a former open pit mining.

In the Nature Park Cabárceno life is developed in the most natural environment for the animals that inhabit it. Except food provided to them, the rest of the activities are marked by their almost total freedom and instinct. Virtually all fights and struggles trigger mating season for control of females and of course, except the survival instinct, the rest of your senses are so wild and in its natural habitat.

More than 20 km of roads that cut through the park will lead you to the different enclosures through wonderful gorges, peaceful lakes and suggestive rocky figures. In addition, throughout the park there are numerous parking areas and paths that allow us to discover places of great beauty.

The Cabarceno natural park is an ideal place to spend the day with family because it has numerous recreational areas, picnic areas, viewpoints, botanical routes, cafes, restaurants, playground ...

Day 9 Saturday August 29th

After a delicious breakfast, you will be driven to Santander, the capital of the Cantabria region, Northern Spain’s most elegant city. Our visit digs below its surface beauty, to unearth a vibrancy and flavour that few visitors get to experience.

You will enjoy a culinary tour of Santander’s central farmers’ market where colours and aromas combine to create an intoxicating gastronomic experience. Here you will find only the most succulent fruit and vegetables, freshest seafood, cheeses and meats from local producers. This is slow-food taken to the next level.

After a visit to this lively market, you will enjoy an afternoon of gathering with your friends or family to eat, drink and be merry, a fundamental part of the fabric of social life in Spain. “Pinchos” line every bar in town, but knowing where to find the best ones is an art that needs local knowledge. Without a passionate foodie local with you, you would choose bars at random and pointed to what you would see on the counter, but often the “specials” aren’t on display.

In Santander, Spanish “Tapas” are served in the form of “Pinchos”. Do you know the difference between “Pinchos” & “Tapas”? They are both part of Spanish small food culture and while “Tapas” are small portions of food to share, “Pinchos” are bite-size food masterpieces often served on a slice of bread and have a cocktail stick in them, a delicious Spanish version of finger food.

After that you may explore Santander by foot, by boat, or we will just simply relax on an unspoilt beach before retiring to your hotel, that’s your choice.

Day 10 Sunday August 30th


It’s time to say goodbye to your Spanish trip. At the designated time, you will be driven to Bilbao's airport (1h drive) on time to take your flight home.
